Savage Killers Biography, Philosophy, & Member Requirements

SK Bio

{SK} stands for Savage Killers. Savage Killers is a group of gamers that are into just about everything and anything. SK has been going for 11 years strong now. The Savage Killers leader is DocSavage. Doc, Deathwing and Anrky were founders of this clan, but the latter are no longer around with us fulltime.

SK Philosophy

SK is all about respect, good sportsmanship, and fun. We've always considered ourselves a family of brothers (or sisters)... not just friends. We may squabble now and then or bitch and complain about something, but that's what families are about. We put up with it, show our support, and offer our help to each other. Some of us long timers have never met face to face, but we still feel like we've known each other forever. We want new members of SK to feel like they're part of this family.

SK Membership Requirements

We've always been an easy going clan. We joke alot and talk trash alot. But we know there is a time and place for everything. When on public servers we do our best to represent ourselves as respectful players that show good sportsmanship and follow server rules. Other gamers have the right to have fun too... don't forget that.
Our own rules are fairly loose. There is a hierarchy of leadership. DocSavage and the Brass have the final say on everything. We don't really vote on anything but we've never had to. Our clan has survived on trusting and respecting the judgement of its leaders.

Shortly after being accepted into SK you will be assigned a unit. It is expected that all members of SK will support their unit in its ventures to the best of their abilities. This does not mean you must make every practice, every match, and so on. It does mean, however, that the effort by the member must be there. Individual participation makes for a better unit.

Another important point in the brotherhood of SK is communication. All members of SK are required to be registered on our public forums and to keep up with them on at least a weekly basis. This is a huge part in our communication structure.

We also rely heavily on several other forms of communications aside from the forums. You must give us a valid email address that you check regularly. Email is used in the event that servers crash or other unforeseen circumstances arise. In addition to email, we use a voice communication program, TeamSpeak. TeamSpeak is a voice communication software that allows us to act better as a team in game. TeamSpeak is required to join any league team or clan matchups.

SK Recruitment

Recruitment is officially done by invitation from the Brass.

Only SK Brass -- Majors, Colonels, and Generals -- possess the power to recruit. Each member of the Brass is self-sufficient and may recruit as they see fit.

SK Officers under the rank of Major are at liberty to invite players to seek out a member of the SK Brass for the purpose of possible recruitment.

All enlisted SK members have permission to suggest possible recruits to the SK Brass and are encouraged to. However, Enlisted SK members are not at liberty to invite players to seek out Brass members for the purpose of recruitment. If a player asks an Enlisted SK member how he/she can go about joining SK, only then may an Enlisted member send a player in the direction of an SK Brass member.

All recruits must complete the SK Boot Camp.
Recruits over 18 must spend a minimum of 2 weeks in Boot Camp.
Recruits under 18 must spend a minimum of 4 weeks in Boot Camp.
All recruits enter Boot Camp at the rank of Private.

During Boot Camp the recruit will be evaluated by all the SK Members he/she comes in contact with, whether that be in game, on message boards, or over voice com. The recruit will be evaluated on the following:

-Adhesion to membership requirements
-Ability in-game
-Prior clan affiliations
-We do not take gamers affiliated with any other clans, even if the clan is a game that SK does not currently have a division in. We also do not take clan jumpers.
-Sense of Humor
-Ability to have Fun.

At the end of the 2-week or 4-week period the recruit will be evaluated by the SK Brass and Officers.

The recruiter may dismiss the recruit at any time during Boot Camp.

The recruiter is responsible for getting the recruit setup within SK once the recruit has completed the SK boot camp.
-All recruits MUST BE registered on the SK message board
-All recruits must have the current voice communication software that SK is using explained to them. If there are technical difficulties preventing the software use, or the hardware required isn't available yet, that is ok.
-All recruits MUST HAVE an email contact.
-All contact info for recruits must be e-mailed to all the current members of the SK Brass.
-The appropriate Major(s) must be informed of new recruits in need of unit placement.

Ranks

Your rank establishes your position in the hierarchy of SK. Once you've completed boot camp, you are assigned the rank of Private.

Duty of Rank

Private Class

Privates are the foundation of SK. They bring new ideas and new energy to our clan. At this stage, Privates are really only expected to learn the ropes, and learn what it means to be SK. To become a good private all you need to do is play the game, listen to your commanding Officers, and keep up with the SK forums.

Summary
-Maintain SK ideals
-Follow orders
-Keep up with forums

Corporal Class

Corporals are those members that have really earned their place in SK. They have the respect of their fellow clan members and they have decided they want to be with SK for the long haul. To succeed at being a Corporal you need to take what you learned as a Private and perfect it. This will set a good example for future Privates.

Summary
-Maintain SK ideals
-Follow orders
-Keep up with forums
-Assist new recruits with orientation

Sergeant Class

Sergeants are truly the backbone of the Enlisted ranks. Sergeants have taken the SK ideals to heart. A successful Sergeant is one who acts as an organizational force for the Enlisted ranks. If a Captain needs to know the status of one of his unit members he should only need ask a Sergeant to get his answer. Sergeants also act as liaison between the enlisted ranks in a unit and the Officers of a unit. If there is discord among the unit members they will inform a Sergeant who will then be able to discuss the matter with a Lieutenant.

Summary
-Maintain SK ideals
-Follow orders
-Keep up with forums
-Act as liaison between Enlisted members within a unit and the -Lieutenants/Captains of a unit
-Help organize members under the rank of Sergeant for practices
-Conduct the orientation of new recruits within units

Lieutenants

Lieutenants are the first rank of the Officer class. With this comes great honor and increased responsibility. Lieutenants are the main driving force behind the units. Lieutenants organize the unit practices and make sure they go off without a hitch. In addition to this, being that Lieutenants are the second in command of the units, they lead the units in battle when the Captains cannot. Lieutenant is also the first Officer that a Sergeant will go to when he has a grievance to relay from the Enlisted ranks. There are perks to being a Lieutenant though as well. Lieutenants have limited admin access on the SK servers. This means they are required to police the servers. Lieutenants are also required to report on unit status to the Captains if anything out of the ordinary happens.

Summary
-Maintain SK ideals
-Follow orders
-Keep up with forums
-Act as liaison between Sergeants and Captains
-Organize and conduct unit practices
-Lead unit in battle in the event that the Captain cannot
-Police the SK servers
-Report unit status to Captain

Captains

Captains are the second rank of the Officer class. Captains are essentially the heart of SK. They keep the troops organized, battle ready, and most importantly they keep the morale level up. Within each unit, the Captain is responsible for finalizing the practice schedule that the Lieutenant put together and making sure that it gets followed. In addition to this, Captains have the power to either challenge or accept challenges for matches from other clans and other units. Of course, when a match is to take place the Captain leads his troops in battle. The most important duty of a Captain is to make sure that the Enlisted ranks follow the policies of SK. If a grievance is brought forth against an Enlisted member of SK it is up to the Captain to either pass judgment or bring it to the attention of the SK Brass. A Captain is required to police the SK servers when he plays on them.

Summary
-Maintain SK ideals
-Follow orders
-Keep up with forums
-Act as liaison between units and Majors
-Make final decision on practice times and conduct unit practices
-Lead units in battle
-Police SK servers
-Submit request for the promotion of Enlisted members to a Major, where promotion is due.
-Challenge or accept challenges for matches with other clans or matches with other units within SK for the unit
-Implement new policies passed down from the Generals within the unit

Majors

The rank of Major; this is probably the biggest step in increase of responsibility within SK. By the time someone reaches the rank of Major there is little doubt in anyone's mind that this member will be in SK for as long as SK exists. With this also comes increased trust from the leaders of SK. Majors are the right hand men of the SK Generals and Colonels. The Generals have trusted the Majors with the duties of recruiting new members and assigning all new members to units. In essence, Majors see that the units of SK are kept operating smoothly. In addition to this, Majors also help organize the SK teams for any leagues that SK may be involved with. When the units are taken care of a Major's job is onlyhalf completed. This is because Majors are moderators of the entire SK message board and have admin access on SK servers, both in game admin and web admin. With all these powers a Major must remember to police all that is SK and help keep the peace.

Summary
-Maintain SK ideals
-Follow orders
-Keep up with forums
-Act as liaison between the Captains and Brass
-Handle placement of new recruits with the units
-Help organize teams for any leagues the clan is involved with

-Accept or decline matches for the clan and organize them
-Oversee the implementation of new SK polices within all units

Colonels

Colonels are barely a step down from Generals. In fact should a General ever retire from SK it would be a Colonel that would be chosen to fill the General's place. Even though some of the duties of Colonels are written here they basically make their own duties. The duties listed below are only to give the rest of SK an idea of what a Colonel's duties are in part.

Summary
-Maintain SK ideals
-Follow orders
-Keep up with forums
-Handle any grievances brought by Majors from the Officer ranks
-Help critique new policies written by Generals
-Organize and conduct the teams for any leagues the clan is involved with
-Accept or decline matches for the clan and organize them
-See that new policies written by Generals are implemented successfully
-Recruit for the clan
-Police SK servers
-Police SK message board

Generals

Well, it may seem like a jip to read this far and then see only one simple item listed for the Generals. The truth of the matter, though, is that the SK Generals do everything that is required to keep SK going. Virtually everything that is on this list of duties for the other ranks of SK a general does each day. In a perfect world by the time you got to be a General you would have less duties and you would just be able to sit back and let your members run SK for you. This is not the case unfortunately, the Generals do more work for SK than any other member. Thankfully we wouldn't have it any other way. We love SK and we will do anything for her so just know that we are always here to butt in when its needed or lend an ear when you need us.

SK Promotions/Demotions

Enlisted Members

Promotions

First of all there is a time frame in which members are eligible for promotion. All Enlisted members are eligible for the promotion of one rank for every three month period of time. Captains are responsible for requesting permission to promote the Enlisted members of his/her unit. All such requests are sent to the Major in charge of that Captain's unit. Though the Majors have final say on the promotion it is still up to the Captains to post the said promotion news in the SK Promotions forum.

Demotions

The same time period holds true for demotions. No Captain may request for the demotion of any member of his/her unit more than one rank for every three month period. Again the request goes to that appropriate Major. There is no forum in which demotions are posted, the demoted member is to be notified via e-mail.
Officers

Promotions

The time frame for officer promotions is no more than one rank for every one year period. Officer promotions will be determined by a majority vote comprised of all of the Officers' votes in the Officers' Voting forum.

Demotions

Again, the same time period and procedure holds true for demotions. No officer may be demoted more than one rank for every three-month period.

Generals

Generals reserve the right to vote privately for the promotion/demotion of any SK member more than one rank in any period. Generals also reserve the right to vote privately for the promotion/demotion of any General before bringing it to a vote among the officers. All Generals votes will take place in the SK Generals' forum. In all instances of Generals voting the vote must be unanimous to pass.

Leave of Absence

LoA is to be used in cases where a member will not be able to participate in the clan in any way, shape, or form for a certain amount of time -- which is anything longer than 2 weeks. A member who needs to go on LoA status is required to inform his/her immediate commanding officers. This is to help give the officers an idea of who they might be able to count on being around when they organize matches.

SK Reserves

Reserve status is to be used when a member will no longer be able to commit any solid time to the clan. As with LoA, a member of SK wishing to go on Reserve status must inform his/her immediate commanding officers.

LoA Status Requirements

You will retain your present rank and benefits of that rank as the time restrictions permit. In the event that a Captain or Lieutenant wishes take LoA status, these officers WILL NOT retain their leadership position past 3 months on LoA. Promotions will not be given to members on LoA.

Enlisted members can be on LoA for up to 4 months and still come back at the same rank. Any enlisted member gone past 4 months gets an automatic dismissal from the clan.

Lieutenants and Captains can be on Loa for up to 2 months and still come back at same rank as long as there are still officer positions open. If there are no available positions open then that is an automatic demotion to Sergeant. If an officer is gone for more than 2 months than that is also an automatic demotion to Sergeant and they are placed in reserve status. Officers demoted because of LoA will be first considered when filling vacant officer positions.

Majors and Colonels

There are no automatic stipulations for Majors or Colonels that go LoA. All such matters will be decided on a case by case basis among the Generals.

Reserve Status Requirements

You will retain your present rank and benefits of that rank as the time restrictions permit. In the event that a Captain or Lieutenant wishes take Reserve status, these officers WILL NOT retain their leadership position and be demoted to Sergeant.

Promotions will not be given to members in the Reserves.

Active members are to be used first for all matches and tournaments. The members in the Reserves will be used as backups.

You will be required to participate in the forums at least once a month in order to stay informed of clan changes.

Enlisted members can be in the Reserves for up to 4 months and still come back at the same rank. Any enlisted member inactive past 4 months is eligible for automatic dismissal from the clan.

There are no automatic stipulations for Majors or Colonels that go on reserve status. All such matters will be decided on a case by case basis among the Generals.
